A Typical Day

A typical day for a Dallam School Boarder includes a structured routine to guide daily life, allowing dedicated time for study alongside free time to participate in extra-curricular activities and relaxation.


7.15am Wake up call and preparation for the school day
7.30am Breakfast in the Dining Hall
8.20am – 8.30am All year groups depart for the main school, by bus or walking
8.30am Boarding house closed to boarders for the duration of the school day
8.45am – 3.30pm School day (3.10pm on Mondays)
3.30pm All year groups return to the Boarding House by bus
3.40pm Year 7 – 11 registration in the Dining Hall
3.40pm – 5.30pm Free time for school extra-curricular activities or relaxation
4.45pm – 5.30pm Evening meal in the Dining Hall
5.30pm – 6.30pm Free time or House/Group meetings
6.30pm – 7.45pm Prep time for all year groups. (Year 13 students may study in their own rooms)
8.00pm – 9.00pm Evening activities
8.30pm – 9.30pm Supper in the Dining Hall
9.20pm – 10.45pm Lights out begins at 9.20pm for Year 7 students, ending at 10.45pm for senior boarders. All boarders should move to their rooms 15 minutes before lights out to shower and prepare for bed. 


9.00am – 10.50am Wake up call and preparation for the day ahead
8.00am – 9.30am Light breakfast in the Dining Hall
11.00am – 12noon Saturday/Sunday brunch in the Dining Hall
12noon – 4.30pm Weekend activities programme
4.45pm – 5.30pm Evening meal in the Dining Hall
5.30pm – 8.30pm Saturday: Free time / activities
Sunday: Homework
8.30pm – 9.30pm Supper in the Dining Hall
9.35pm – 11.30pm Saturday: Lights out is extended by 15 – 30 minutes
Sunday: Lights out follows the weekday routine

Throughout the day a programme of on-site and off-site activities are arranged.
All boarders are expected to fully participate in a range of activities, supported by their house tutor.
