A place to study, socialise and relax
Dallam Boarders have access to a wide range of facilities during their time with us.
Many areas of the site have recently been refurbished and include new kitchen and dining room facilities, modernised bedrooms, a lecture hall and community classrooms, as well as a computer suite, fitness centre, extensive playing fields and indoor and outdoor recreational facilities.
Students are encouraged to make full use of the facilities during their free time and many social events and activities are also held at the boarding house throughout the year.
…There are superb recreational areas for students to relax…
Boarders’ breakfast and evening meals are taken in the Dining Hall each day, with lunch provided at school during weekdays.
Dedicated mealtimes allow students and staff to eat together, and with an in-house catering team, there is always plenty of choice on offer. Our food is freshly prepared every day using local ingredients, providing nutritionally balanced, tasty meals with a range of vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals available.
Special dietary needs can be catered for, however, these should be discussed in advance with the house parents and supported by parents.
The Junior and Senior common rooms are fantastic recreational areas where students can relax on comfy sofas, play games or watch TV or films. There are also smaller, quiet areas for students to read or study. Sixth Form have their own dedicated common room with kitchen facilities and chill out areas.
Sports and Fitness
Our boarders are lucky to have access to high quality sports and fitness facilities. This includes a dedicated fitness suite, spacious playing fields for outdoor sports, tennis courts and a large sports hall.
Based in the middle of the Cumbrian countryside, we also make the most of what the Lake District has to offer and regularly organise scenic walks to explore our surroundings.
Our housekeeping team ensure that our boarding community is kept clean and tidy, however, students are expected to treat our facilities with respect and must keep their bedrooms tidy at all times.
A regular laundry service is provided for clothing and bedding, and students also have access to washing machines for their own us.
Technology and Keeping in Touch
Telephones are provided to receive incoming calls and boarders can use these at any time outside Prep time. Contact with home is also encouraged using email, Facetime, Skype, VSEE or other video conferencing applications.
Within our computer suite, students have free access to the school network and can also log onto the internet under the supervision of staff. For reasons of personal security, social networking websites are blocked for students in Years 7 – 9 by the school’s system.
